About Me

Lucy-Atherton

I trained and qualified as a counsellor at the Gestalt Centre in London. I made the transition to working as counsellor following 20 years of working in the creative industries. The choice to change direction in my life came from my personal development journey within group and individual psychotherapy which helped me to make sense of and heal from some challenging life experiences. Knowing what can be achieved in a therapeutic environment is what inspired me to take the leap into providing this for others.

I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds who are dealing with various life challenges and situations such as bereavement, complex family situations, burnout, life changes, anxiety, self-esteem issues and depression. I believe a strong therapeutic alliance provides a safe and trusting environment where you can explore sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. This trust, once established, can form the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work.

I have been working in private practice since 2020 following a three-year period of volunteering at the Camden City Islington & Westminster Bereavement Service. I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work in accordance with their Ethical Framework.
